NOTES: You must be a student member of NCRA by January 31 to sit for the May exam; for the fall exam, you must join NCRA by July 31. Applications are available in the reception area and must be signed by the school director; they may be faxed to NCRA w/credit card information or mailed with a check. NCRA student memberships are allowed for a maximum period of five years and must be renewed annually. StenoTech hosts the RPR/RMR/CRR/CBC/CCP skills tests at both of its campuses. Beginning in October 2007 the WKT (Written Knowledge Test) will be given at professional electronic testing sites through Pearson VUE in a computer-based format during four two-week periods throughout the year. Test information is automatically mailed by NCRA to all enrolled members prior to each examination date, or you can go to www.ncraonline.com.
Effective January 2007, you must pass all four legs of the national test (the WKT and three skills tests) in order to become an RPR; then you can obtain your CCR (Certified Court Reporter) license from the State of New Jersey. Test legs may be passed separately and will be banked as long as you maintain your NCRA membership status. An unlicensed reporter who wishes to work in NJ must apply to the New Jersey Board of Shorthand Reporters. Approvals will be granted for a one-year period. |
