Mrs. Melone’s interest in the field of court reporting began upon high school graduation in 1965, when she earned a full scholarship to attend Essex College of Business, earning diplomas in machine stenography and court reporting, a Second Honors award recipient. She began her reporting career in 1967 at the age of 19 and was licensed in 1969 as a certified reporter of the State of New Jersey.
After ten years of a successful reporting career that included diverse court and freelance work, Mrs. Melone turned to reporter education, where she served in the capacity of instructor, education coordinator, and program director for an additional ten years. This provided the foundation for her dream of opening a private career school that would focus on training future court reporters and resulted in the establishment of StenoTech in 1989.
Forty plus years of dedication to the reporting profession has earned Mrs. Melone a great deal of recognition in the field and given her an infinite number of success stories about the students whose lives she has touched. She continues to serve as president of StenoTech Inc., director of the Fairfield campus, education coordinator, instructor at both campuses, and dictator at speed clinics prepping students for certification examinations.
Mrs. Melone is an associate member of the National Court Reporters Association (NCRA), the American Association for Medical Transcription (AAMT), and the Certified Court Reporters Association of New Jersey. She is currently serving on the School Owners and Administrators Committee of NCRA and has served in the role of chief examiner for semiannual NCRA reporter examinations from 1994 to the present. |
